But now Samuel Hadida's Davis Film has picked up the Golgo 13film rights from LEED Publishing Co. Ltd., with plans to bring mangaka Takao Saito's legend to life.*The Golgo 13 manga originally debuted in 1968 in Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine, and is still being serialized to this day. Those familiar with Duke Togo know his skills as an assassin are without peer, and his exploits have been well documented in manga, two live-action films starring Ken Takakura and Sonny Chiba, an anime TV series, OVA, and anime film. The acquisition was announced Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival.
