This could be a sign that Sony is getting ready to move Home to the PS4, over on the Sony jobs website a number of listings have popped up for vacancies in the Home team: Sony Playstation - You have searched for Vacancies All the job listing make a note of working on the PS4 and the jobs like Senior Artist when you view the details outlines you need skill's with all the 3d design software that is used for Home. Why this could just be a listing error, it might just be the first real sign that Sony plans on moving Home to the PS4 after all.
I'll also like to point out the jobs listed cover all the main Areas of Home with User Interface, Environment Designer, Artiest and Programmer.
Yep but that was mostly would the big Game dev's who have a over head of staff who are all no longer needed now PS4 coding is faster.
Really would like a job there to design items for Home, but I'm not so tech computer advanced. I can only draw them. lol
I can see it already......the Recca-nator! Personally, I have no interest whatsoever in working for Sony--in ANY capacity.
I still have doubts with this. And even if it is, I think it'll be a new from scratch Home (whatever it's name will be) than a port of Home we have right now.
Agreed. If this does have anything to do with a continuation of PlayStation®Home on the PS4, I highly doubt it would be a port of the Home we currently know. Remember that the PS4 is an entirely different beast of a console — it's running on completely different chipsets and software from anything on the PS3 — therefore a port in the conventional sense would be waaaay out of the question… if it's even feasible (which it supposedly isn't). Out of necessity, any PS4 version of Home would need to be rebuilt from scratch. Even the few apparent game "ports" that have appeared on the PS4 were actually rebuilt from the ground up for the system by their own dedicated dev teams (such as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition or Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag). These aren't ports inasmuch as completely new versions of the same title. Anyway, only time will show what occurs with this, if anything. I don't really see why Home couldn't be on PS4 in it's current state (with improved loading and graphics). If DCUO and FFXIV can manage it while letting PS3 and PS4 users co-mingle theres little reason Home can't do the same, That's not to say there wouldn't be certain issues but technically speaking it should be possible.
Home was not coded for the cell and is not coded like a normal game, Like Rach says DCUO and that have already moved to PS4. Its more a case of is the money return there to put the work in to move it to PS4.
DCUO was also built for the PC, so it should have been real easy to port it for PS4. Technically it should be possible. But logically, unlike the others where almost 1 developer works on it and do the modifications and upgrades, Home is pretty much a whole bunch of group of devs and each do their own stuff. And considering there are many devs that have left behind Home, I kind of think there is too much hassle going for a port. But then again, we have seen many stuff left broken in Home, so they might jump the gun doing for it, but leave it 99% broken.
In its current state home has so many issues, that we all know about, why would Sony want to put it on its flagship console. Home has to want to continue. It's needs to keep updates exciting. If something is broken, it needs to be repaired, refunded or removed in a timely manner. It needs to have respectable download/verifying times. Nefarious users that are exploiting home need to kept to a minimum. All online worlds suffer with issues but nearly all the good ones deal with them in an effective timely manner. If the current home cant do this then it's time to be replaced. That will come down to cold hard money and whether a new home can make a profit. People think that users are leaving to go play GTA etc because no one knows what's going on with home. Not the case amongst my friends. They are not going on home regular because all the issues above. Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
