Flags, Bags And Style Fads

I'll admit even though I love love love clothing and shoes, gawd do I love shoes, there are just some areas in the fashion world that I could never see myself exploring. One of those areas that I wouldn't go into was always the wearing your patriotism, I just always found wearing your flag as something extremely cheesy, or cliche because you are a walking advertisement and worse off it never really looked like it would work well. I'm not saying I hate my flag because I love being American just from a fashionistas point of view I always found this to be a very tacky look. Now recently LKWD has released a dress called the patriot dress, I knowing how I am was going to not even buy it or even look at it because I was already set in my ideals. So I decided to just give the thread a look see and see if they at least had cute shoes. So I get into the tab and low and behold I see the patriot dress. It's one shouldered loose fitting dress w/ a white belt that gives it more of a fitted look. I had my reservations upon buying this dress at first, but I decided to give it a chance and hope for the best. In all honesty I actually found myself liking it. Thus, breaking the idea that flag wear could never look interesting or anything but costumey. It's great because they featured the dress as a top instead of as a full body dress because there is some variety in that. For some girls that don't like to walk around in a dress with out wearing stockings this could work great for that or some who want to wear pants w/ the dress LKWD made it so that the dress could go the route of whatever your feelings are. However I do wish this had an alternate style or even went w/ a Canadian flag variation I'm still a bit happy w/ my purchase. Though I wish LKWD had considered making a variety of styles w/ the flag(if they haven't already and plan to do some gift machine versions).

PROS: ~ The dress is cute and a lesser version of a cheesy flag outfit ~It's under the tops tab for those who want to put stockings or leggings under it that can work just fine ~ It isn't overly big so it gives shape to the body and can go w/ a host of items

CONS: - Although I can admit to loving the dress it can be a bit limiting for those who want to just go balls to the wall w/ mixing styles and colors. - It could use a bit of variety - for those who want glitz and glam this is not the right outfit for you - For those limited divas who can only do a matchy matchy style and prefer not to experiment this definitely isn't the dress for you(well unless you consider the lkwd gift machine heels that came out the same week)

My rating would have to be a Solid 4/5 it's not perfect in some ways, but it's a start towards making flag wear credible.

 

It might be that depends on my mood cause I sometimes get hit w/ the writing bug but occasionally I can't do it. LOL

Though I agree it can be very tacky just wearing the stripes and a tiny bit of the flag, it's usually why I don't feature clothing that usually showcases the flag because it can look tacky. Especially when somebody wears flag on flag on flag and it's like really just cheesy looking.
