I love it when I'm slowed down, trying to go around a cup I'm not supposed to knock over, and I ... touch ... the wall so hard that my car bounces off at a right angle and drives straight into the cup.

A game should never do anything that makes the player want to strangle one of the devs. The player can be super mad at themself for something that's genuinely their fault, but never at the game or the people who wrote the game. That's just bad form.

I put things like that in the same category as the old days of Sesame Street when no one believed Big Bird about Snuffleupagus. That used to upset me enough to make me hate watching Sesame Street and I'd leave the room when they were doing one of those bits. Same sort of thing applies to games that upset me.

I am sorry you feel so frustrated with the game mechanics. We built a physics engine for the game so it definitely needs tweaking, but if you know how the car will interact at a certain angle... sometimes you can use it to your advantage! Take the "bug" and .. "exploit" it. See what you can come up with!

    Mystik:

Sorry, I overstated my frustration unintentionally. While it is frustrating to bounce off like that, it's still a fun game and not terribly frustrating otherwise. I only added the spew about not making the player want to strangle you because it's a good policy that I always try to get other devs to adopt, with mixed results.

I'm fine with a player thinking they have screwed themselves out of a good score. They can be violently angry that they forgot to brake early or consider where they needed to land after a jump. What I think is bad is when they think the game has screwed them unfairly through a bug or other unfortunate behavior. They should love the game and complain only about their own failures.

It's especially bad for them to think (and no, I don't think they would think this about your racing game) that a dickheaded dev deliberately screwed them out of a good score. For instance, when an object they're desperately chasing goes somewhere they cannot and hovers there, two inches out of range, for an eternity during a timed challenge. I'm not naming names, but I bet you know who I mean and what I mean. ;)

For what it's worth, I've actually been lead programmer on three console racing games, and I think you guys mostly did a bang-up job, especially within the constraints of the Home API. You're right that the physics needs a few tweaks, but kudos overall, especially if this is your first racer.

I can't wait til tomorrow to try out the updated R/C Rally space. It was fun racing and winning rewards from there. I am sure it will even be more fun now.

    Thanks for reading.

I believe with Playstation Home anything is possible.

I'm definitely a heavy water fan. I am defined by my body modifications and its great that there's a store that revolves around the edgy side of PS Home. I'm always loving to show skin and with my piercings and tattoos its even better. So I have some ideas, but I don't want to shove a closet full down your throat, but then again who's going to read this?

I would love facial piercings and I'm sure it would be a hit on Home. You would probably have to place it in the glasses section, but it would be a popular thing.

I would love if you made a black shirt with a skull design with the arms cut off and even cut off a little lower to show some rib cage, you'd have to add a bra line for females, but add a half sleeve and a neck tattoo.

Some things you probably wouldn't do, Ombre hair is amazing and really gaining popularity as well as corsets, lace clothings, baggy sweat shirts with cats on it with lace thigh high stalkings.

There are just so many heavy and dark beautiful things that could be added to the heavy water collection. I shall be buying a pin up collection.

I wish PS Home would pick up the idea, but it would be amazing if they sold AVATAR ACTIONS! but no its only attached to outfits.

Keep up the good work Mystik,
    Sincerely NeviusAtavist.

White ink Tattoos >:3 is it only for dark skin? Because on white people In Real Life it always looks like scarification.

The tattoos work on any skin color, but we gave you the color option if you wanted them to stand out more on the opposite skin color! Send us pictures of what you've done with the tattoos so we can continue to refine what Home users want to see!

Post them in this thread. I am always on YPSH!

I like how you gave everyone a free top. That will make summer nice for everyone. That's pretty cool. I'm still deciding on which package I want. But I think I'll get the male bundle for my main account and female for the other ps3.

Are you planning on making any more of these, Heavy?

I had an idea....yes...I always have too many ideas, LOL. Is it possible to make another tattoo that is slightly translucent? Real tats rarely are a pure color. They quickly fade and share alot of the person's natural skin color. You might also try glow in the dark tattoo's too. That might be fun. :)

btw, technically, I notice you are having them float above the skin slightly. This works well. But up close I can see it floating. have you tried touching one edge of the tattoo to the skin? have one edge slightly above the skin and one edge touching. I think that will animate well. And from the sideview it won't appear disconnected from the skin. :)

From what I read it said watch out for more next week, brave idea to get them to float just above the skin with all the clipping issues it could cause, what might be good is to have what avatar settings they work best with,

Firepantalones, if you want glowing ,check our first line of tattoos. There are glowing ones :p
That idea about touching into the skin would be a work in magic since the designs are different shapes but the polygons they sit on are the same very time so some would still appear to float and others would clip into the skin. We will work more on improving them and I have been watching feedback come in about them. People wanted separates but they didn't really understand the probably that could arise with it! A lot of clothing have different geo unfortunately as devs decide to alter what they want to make their item look best.

The Ivory tattoos have an alpha so they do blend with the skin more. But I will keep that in mind for the future.

Thanks for the feedback guys! :D

I do like the ivories. I picked up the gender bundle for my clone. And after you mentioned it, I went back and picked up a few more of the older tats.

My favorite is the ivory arm tattoo. I like it cause it blends in better. (Black is a little strong for white skin) But most importantly, hand slot tats are usable with alot of different clothing items. And that is a BIG plus.

Too bad Home don't have an additional slot for torso add ons. It really needs one. This would be perfect for such a catagory. I could wear a tat and still choose what top and gloves I want to wear. But I guess I'll have to wait till ps4. I guess PS3 don't have the extra memory to spare for that.

    :)

Just an FYI since I didn't see this mentioned yet:

The Bare Canvas Shorts item is now showing a $30.00 price tag…
a teensy bit less-complimentary figure than my wallet was expecting.

I know you do quality workmanship with your items & meshes, but this just
    seems a wee bit… indulgent.

Wait, I think I understand… a certain someone went to Vegas for the fourth
and needs to cover a new gambling debt fast?
    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .:slapped:

Or perhaps it's to cover certain other…shall we say, entertainment for the
    discrete & enlightened visitor…*ahem*?
