I hope Sony Home gets it right this time. Home has a potential to be amazing. With it being under utilized or improperly wasted, It has become a joke to non-Home users. They should have properly integrated it with the XMB, forcing everyone to utilize it in some form or another.

unfortunately no gamer will accept 10 minutes minimum loading time from console start to playing the game, and sorry you cant access it on update day. outside the NA region they dont even have a gamers lounge.

What the.... they say they asked regular Home users what they would like implemented in Home who did they ask?? ,I am all for events and the like ...BUT to revamp it so much is not going to please most regular users who have kept Home going for so many years.
I hope the usual spaces are staying or I will not be visiting Home as often if at all....
Also hope all the hearsay about losing items and private spaces is not true or I will want all my money back.
Well I can only wait to see ...but really not happy at this time :(

As pessimistic as it sounds, I just worry about Sony's ability to pull off something this major. Lately, the servers seem overloaded after every weekly update. You're either locked out of games or the point tracking does not work properly. And that's for relatively simple games like doing push-ups at UFC or playing craps at Ooblag. It could be a major step forward for Home if Sony is willing to commit the server space, bandwidth and manpower to this process. Otherwise, it could just be another episode in the long litany of recent SNAFU's.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best, I guess.

All Sony is doing is adding new public spaces. A few things might get removed, but you have had spaced removed before and you still use Home and enjoy it. There will be more game integration, and there will be more areas to socialize. They are not changing that, they are just trying to make it more appealing to those who like games. A lot of Home users like to play games while they socialize. Everyone loved the EA Poker game... I feel they will be bringing a little bit more of that style into Home.

Not sure about the new code, but it might already be in the back end of Home, it just hasn't been accessed yet because the new spaces aren't up.

I know Sony has let us down in the past, but I really think it will be fun and it will work.

I agree totally. Home has kind of turned into an oversized Sims game. There really isn't any space currently that really intergrates gaming with socializing well. If they can make a space that offers both like the EA space did Home will start being the first destination for many instead of the current - I'm tired of UC - need a break - oh so and so is online - I'm going on Home to say hello.

I'm trying to get confirmation on that right now. But I suspect that it will be NA only, or at most NA and EU only.

It will be US only, its only a core space redesign, EU might get it also, but they not long ago had core spaces redesigned, so seems abit to soon to redo them again. Japan i can not see going for it.

Locust Star just made another post. Basically he's saying "no comment" but from his previous remarks and Mr. Buser's previous remarks I also tend to believe it will be NA only.

When he differentiated between the redesign and the core update it was a tip off that this wouldn't be a worldwide change.

Nar its not world, but i could see EU getting it at some point in time, and the core update due is only a small update, mostly to its start up but that's about all i can say on it due to NDA's

Seems to me this will be a great evolution for Home. I think that Sony created a unique gaming platform in Home almost accidentally and I still don't think they fully understand the value of what they've created. Gideon wrote a great article about the original concept of Home as a game launching platform in HS Magazine recently that outlines Home's beginning.

I see Home as a unique gaming platform because it allows players to interact, socialize and collaborate in a way that no other gaming platform allows.

Some of the games created for Home have almost accidentally given us a glimpse of how unique a gaming experience social gaming can be. Xi and the EA Poker rooms are a great example.

Other recent games like Sodium 2: Project Velocity while it's a great game could just as easily been a PS3 game since when visiting the space there are a row of avatars lined up against the railing playing the game and very little social interaction.

I'm hoping that the redesigned Home will take advantage of the unique social gaming experience that just can't be found elsewhere.

Well I will say that it certainly appears that Home is not on the back burner and that the development teams seem to be very busy in creating a new and improved version of the Home experience. I do think that Sony has seen how even a relatively small user base can generate quite a bit of revenue. I also believe that Sony wants to grow that user base exponentially and this is an attempt to do that.

One can hope after all is said and done that Home remains first and foremost a Social Application for games to meet and of course play games. If the focus trends too much to the game side I would think that many of us socialites will tend to play our games on the XMB and not in Home.

Personally I'm somewhat optimistic this will be a good thing for Home.

The Action District is where i'll be lol, it looks like the gotham area on DC Universe online Article: Home redesign in autumn (The Hub), Aug 23, 2011, 11:50 AM, YourPSHome.net, 4074
But with PSHome great updates comes great lagging.
I really hope Sony knows the updates don't work the same for everyone, so feels the lagging more then others.
