Hey, I was wondering since we have a few japanese speakers here who are very fluent in japanese, maybe one can help me? I'm trying to translate the Japan Home Grievance list. It's very different from the other regions. Even from Home Asia. I've done alot of the work, but could use someone to double check me. #5 defined plainly as "Provocation" seems unusually vague and wide open to interpretation. Guess it means Troublemaking of some sort, which to traditional Japanese thinking could simply be constant nonconformity to the point of irritating friends and family. 13- ネタばらし行為 "Giving away game spoilers" ^^^That's what the asians around here seem to think #13 means. But since they can only make sense of 3 of the seven characters involved in the phrase, I'd wait for confirmation with a Japanese speaker who has actually used a game console. Lol

Thank you, FF, it isn't often one needs to file reports in the Japan Home, but when it is necessary I'd prefer to use the correct category rather than forcing the JP Mods to guess my intent.
Thanks for the translation, good to know what to do just in case, even if i never felt the need to file reports while in Japan. People are nice there, so different from the morons that pollute the NA and EU home.
On those rare occasions that I have filed reports, it's always been against people from the NA and EU Homes.
God, yes. It's amazing. I can walk around the Granzella space in a bathing suit and not be barraged with "hey baby" and "u hav cam?" I'm not barraged with anything at all, not even in Japanese. Try that in NA Seaside. Oh, wait... one time, someone did say, in Japanese, that my avatar was pretty. I said thanks, and then they bowed and went about their business. No joke. I mean, seriously.
My first or second trip to the Asian Home, someone bowed to me. This was a few months after Home left closed beta, and it was obvious I was a "foreigner." It made quite an impression on me. How do you explain something like this to the people who only know the NA Home?
It might help curb their behavior if you let them know that mods in Japan aren't like in NA. With so few troublemakers they WILL respond. They may be invisible, but they will be there. But the only thing is that I've heard most mods don't speak English.
Firefly, translating the list has been really helpful, and sheds some light on a few mysteries. Thank you. Of course, the list also suggests there's certain cultural pitfalls in Japan which could trip up any one of us. 8- 文化差別行為 Cultural Abuse Okay. Knowing what we know now, is it possible that when beneloben (Jetsetters: Home International Club | PlayStation® Community Forums) got an undeserved one week ban from SCEJ last year -- possibly because someone was offended that he was racing a dolphy called "Charlie" -- he may have been reported for a presumed "Cultural abuse" crime inside Home? I'm having trouble figuring out the actual difference between "cultural abuse" and "racial abuse." If anything, the dude who reported Ben was definitely guilty of the (#7) 人種差別行為 "Racial abuse" offense himself. :hmmm:
hmmmm.... it's really hard to say what beneloben got banned for without being there. And it's really something I won't speculate on. Except to say, I really don't know anything about that. ^_^;; btw cultural and racial are really close when insulting someone who's japanese or chinese. it can be either a cultural or racial insult. But it's more obvious when the person uses a black avatar. One time I was wearing a star trek shirt when a scotish person came up to me. I called him "scotty" after the star trek character. Not realizing a "scottie" is derogative slang for a scottsman. That was a cultural insult for him.
Yeah, i heard something about someone getting grief for using a black avatar to shoot a video inside the Spelunkers space. Huh what? Black avatars are part of the character presets. If I ever go to Japan in RL, I think I may need help to avoid making some serious faux pas.
For those who are concerned about unknowingly committing "cultural abuse" in the JP Home, although that is always a possibility for all of us, my experience has been that the JP people in PS Home are rarely quick to take offense. But if one of them were to ever attempt to offer me a word of advice/warning, I would simply say "hai" and bow and do whatever they said because it's their Home and their culture. Unfortunately, the more widespread knowledge becomes as to how to create a JP account, the greater the possibility that we'll run into people from North America and Europe who simply have no common sense or respect for anyone. That's where the real problem is. I went to the Macross concert late last night, and it was completely ruined for me by three people who were clearly there to troll. Troll #1: Which one is Boo? (referring to Sheryl and Ranka) OMG! I LOVE YOU PINK HAIRED GIRL!!! Troll #2: I'm bored. There's no text on the screen (referring to chat text). Troll #3: Turn off the text if you don't want to read our comments. (most NA and EU users have difficulty navigating a menu that is completely in Japanese, besides which, we shouldn't have to disable our text chat because people who should know better refuse to behave.) Arguing with these people is a waste of time. There's an old saying, "Don't feed the trolls." Particularly if you're at a special event, arguing with them only helps them accomplish their goal of ruining the performance for everyone there. The best thing to do is to warn them once, and if they refuse to listen, then report them.
gAmerican cultural values are at a real low. It's not surprising they would act without respect for others. I'm editing the video clips I took last night and the only text I see in bubbles is from English speakers. I don't believe there was any Japanese text whatsoever. We can learn a lot from them. Sadly those in need of a good education don't really care to learn. It's sad. I know yesterday evening at Seaside of Memories there was a prolonged incident with trolls who didn't particularly care for Joanna_Dark_. Doesn't bother me but it does illustrate just how bad the silliness can get at times. Fools like that in Japan home would certainly spoil it for everyone. I might suggest that we consider using club channels or even group channels when attending events like this given the text isn't visible to other users.
I'm sorry to dissent here a little, bit I can speak from experience that we too are perceived as being very rude when we talk during events. During the Japanese events, there is a lot of Japanese text. We can't read it, it bores us, so we gab away. But that is very distracting and rude to the Japanese that WANT to read all that text. There is alot of fun story in that text. And Us gabbing away causes the chatlog to take out a chunk of screen, and our Text bubbles can block the view. If you noticed, there were zero japanese word bubbles in the show. But there were some early on. I'm not able to read japanese fluently, but i saw enough to tell something was being said about us. Please don't read into my post that I'm telling anyone off. I just want people to know how we are seen too.
