Were you one of the lucky ones to get into the closed Beta? I tried everything. I tried the web site everyday; downloaded the theme you name it but no dice. On December 11 2008 I finally got my chance when it went open Beta. My brother called me with the news but said he was having trouble with the download because of so many people doing the same thing. I didn’t have too many problems and later that night I was in Home Square going through the tutorial. Remember trying to talk without the...
I have been a survival horror fanatic forever: Resident Evil, Silent Hill, give me a zombie in my gun sights and I will deliver a perfect headshot every time, but when it comes to humans I get cold feet. I have occasionally played first person shooters. I loved Medal of Honor series, the graphics were ok and it was patriotic and on the tame side. So when I was looking for a game the other day I decided to pick up Call of Duty Black Ops. The graphics were amazing and the environment...
How long does it take to finish a video game? I’m a gamer that that has to deal with the real world and unfortunately has to play games an hour here and hour there. I started playing Final Fantasy 13 the day it was released and finished it about nine months later. To be honest I savored the game and didn’t rush through it, but my point is I don’t have the time I wish I did for my favorite games. Home is great like that. You can just drop by and split whenever. No need to hunt for a...
I love my Home personal spaces but to be honest the pools drive me crazy! I love the fact they have such swanky pools and they look great, but sometimes I ask myself what’s the point? You can walk into the pools but that’s about it. You can don a swimsuit but other than that the frolic factor is pretty small. I have tried to use e-motes to simulate some kind of swimming or “yea, I’m having fun in the pool!” gestures, but the closest I can come up with is the cheer/celebrate e-mote. I...
Video games, social media and virtual worlds of today all owe their thanks to Nolan Bushnell. The video game pioneer not only created video games that you could play in your own home, he also pioneered the idea of social gaming. Bushnell created games were meant to be shared. Games that up to four people could pay together and then further expanded the concept with his Chuck E Cheese’s franchise as a place for people to interact socially while playing video games. Personal computers...
All PS3’s now run strictly on the Cell (CBEA) processor. Is it awesome? Yes! Is it backwards compatible? No! Now that Sony has phased out the Graphics Synthesizer working in conjunction with the CBEA to lower costs, hopes of playing PS2 games on your PS3 is pretty much gone. The original launch of the PS3 had an Emotion chip option for extra money but it quickly phased it out at a time when the Wii and the X-box 360 were a ton cheaper and it needed to get the cost of...
I got a new wireless printer and was delighted that it wanted to work with my PS3. It’s a HP Photo Smart series but I sure many wireless printers will work. If you go to settings-printer selection-printer settings it’s easy and the PS3 see’s the wireless printer and does all the set up for you. Most games don’t have screen shot settings but many do. I printed out a bunch of Little Big Planet -2 photos. It’s even easier with Home because when you use the in game camera it saves them...
Modern life is a form fill, drop down menu, auto populate, choose a link, click to submit kind of experience. As long as your problem, question or request falls within a very specific, pre programmed route you are ok. If not you’re screwed! I love the on line world and all the benefits it has to offer, This site for example is such a great resource and community but ultimately it can only follow specific paths of it’s pre-determined programming. Any deviation requires talking to a...
I just went to Game Stop and found a used copy of Silent Hill 2. I haven’t been playing the PS3 much because I’m not sure of the trophy situation with the PSN being down and without Home and Netflix. I guess I’m taking a little break. To get my gaming fix I have been rediscovering the PS2. I replayed Kingdom Hearts for the billionth time and been noodling around in GTA San Andreas. I found out you can steal a large Airliner in the hanger in Las Venturas airport, so I have been...
I work for a huge (and slightly evil) telecommunications company. I am currently working in Florida. We are fixing many smaller and older outdated cable systems and updating them to play nice in a global network in the 21st century. We are also planning and connecting many new communities that have never had high speed internet before, so for those of you in south Florida boondocks, your welcome! Next Month I’ll be working in Massachusetts. Having the PSN and Home has been great for me...
Lets face it on Home were all super hot! We are a community of men and woman with perfect bodies and blemish free skin living in swanky mansions, what could be cooler? I have an amazing six pack under my treads t-shirt and it’s tough to decide hot tub or infinity pool at my Hollywood house. In short we all look amazing. What’s my point? Well, I think it’s kind of cool. Since were all MMO gods it’s an equal playing field. Were not rich, broke, fat, skinny work some lame ass job…Were...
