I keep getting the error message “Network Error The connection to the server was lost D4001"

Sometimes I can log in, but others I just can´t. I deleted the home file then re-intaling and it´s still happening.

Any thoughts?

I've been getting the same thing, but different error number. Sony had me try so many things but nothing helped. They also said that your router letter has to be a "g" and mine was an "n" so I switched it to broadcast in "g". Also it could have to do with the signal from the router. Mine was around 50% and I found if I move the PS3 unit around and the router I can get the signal up. I do manage to stay on Home much longer now, I still crash at times but not as often as I was.

These are the things Sony had me try, and none of them really worked:

Deleted and reinstalled Home
Open Ports in my Router
Testing Connections
Disabling my Media Server

ETC, ETC. They directed me to the Sony Boards but I never got a response except "we'll look into it" and have not heard back since. I noticed many people there got the same errors as I did.

So try moving your system or changing your router's broadcast number and see if it helps. It's annoying.

I´m in green light with all that, the "g" letter and the stuff.

This happens when the "Reserving HDD space, wait " screen shows up.

Did you try connecting the PS3 directly to the router? I was reading about your error on the playstation network Home help board and that seemed to help the person.

The error is a connection error. If at all possible use a Ethernet cable from the router to the PS3.If you can do that you won't have many problems. If you can't because it's to far. use the router in "g" mode, open network if you can go into the router gooey and move the transmit channel to the highest available. Like LostRainbow said moving it closer is a big help...good luck!

Nothing works for me...
I used the ethernet cable - NOTHING
I changed the router - NOTHING

But I found this on my router in the Security Log section.
"Blocked by DoS protection" with my PS3 IP and the time when I tried to log in to Home.

Any thoughts?
