Using the headphone catagory instead of the head catagory really is nice. People like that. People spend money on hair pieces, especially women since the default hairstyles aren't really up to what females want. The styles aren't that great and there aren't alot of really good ones. A few. But women like hairstyles.

But head items conflict with hairstyles. Hats generally overide the hairstyle and replace it with a chunk of hair that is physically part of the hat. So you get headbands in the head catagory that force you to be bald. Or Hats that force women have to have short hair. If you make a hat for a girl, you probably should make one version with short hair underneath, and one with long hair coming out of it.

But placing a hat in the headphone catagory means you don't have to worry about the hair. You can have it on top of your purchased hairstyle! You just have to make allowances for some clipping with some hairstyles.


There's also the earings catagory which is often overlooked. The Irem company in japan did a smart thing in their Seaside minigame. They put the snorklein your earing catagory. Very convenient. You don't have to cancel out your headphone or head/hat item (or glasses). The earing catagory is great to place items! Maybe you can put a headup displace device on it. Since each ear can be chosen equipped separately, that means two different items can be placed on the head!

I can easily see that happening for a game.

 

Some other really cool items were "eyes" that were placed in the eyeglass catagory. Instead of equipping a pair of glasses, it would change the eyeball. So your eyes glowed. Or was a cat iris. Or plain white (freaky) or black (even freakier).

BTW there is one odd hairpiece that is part of the TEKKEN set. It is a weird pointy hair piece, but wearing it also makes your eye glow red. NEAT!

 

There's also some fullbody suits that when you wear them, you get more emote animations in your R1 list. There's a few karate kicks for one suit. And another makes you do a backflip to land in an IRon Man style pose.


There are also some items in the headphones catagory that are pretty cool. Like an axe in yoru head. Or frankenstein bolts on your neck. Or halos above you. or other things floating above ya. I like the one with stars moving ini a circle around your head, like the you see on old bugs bunny cartoons when someone is knocked out.

Some odder hand items are hands with fingernail paint for girls. Or some with long claw like fingernails. In EU there are wolverine claws.

 

Here is a sure winner. Laptops like the ones you use in the game. But you have a floating screen saver with conspiracy written on it. That will make everybody happy. So you understand. The laptop was only offered once in Home a long time ago. Strange how in this day and age. You can't get a laptop in any Home or a ps3 for your personal space in NA. Go figure lol. Can't find a picture of it, so I hope one of our friends here would provide one for us. It was from EA's breast cancer awareness event last year or so...

Are you from San Diego? God, I loved that place. Used to live there for awhile. Had a place in Del Mar Heights. Right below where the Hot Air Balloons would decend before heading back. They used to "bounce" on the field next to my place. Off to the west were the hang gliders off the red cliffs. And you can eat at the McDonalds on Miramar Road and look out the window and watch F-14s doing touch and goes on the runway.

Hanging with a navy friend over at the place that Tom Cruise and Goose sang at. Then chilling on the deck of a aircraft carrier. No bloody tour. Just hanging out on the deck.

THAT WAS A FUN TOWN!!

 

Hey Braddicus, would you be interested into adding something to your lounge?

I noticed walking around there was some very nice lighting effects. As you would walk around, your avatar would be hit by the colored lights of areas in the scene. That was a very nice touch.

But alot of that is drowned out by the main scene light.

I was thinking the world you created would better be served by more "lurking in the shadows". Something darker. More like the batcave. But with with the lava and corporation areas bathing your avatar with light as they approached.

And maybe a thick column of light down on the center area where the game is. A strong light there would identify visually that this is where to go. This is the center of action.

Something more like the batcave. Or the Siren lounge. (dang Siren was a spooky lounge. very dark and moody noises)

Also, you can toss in a few red alert lights, like the red turning light you saw on old cop cars. There should be a ALERT system in the space, even if it's not used. Red lights stationed here and there. And those old speakers that blasted out a klaxon. It don't have to be on, But that would be cool...

 

The Sodium anniversary rewards, emoticons and home community volunteer are unique. They float above peoples heads.

Somw interesting things are the clothes with missing limbs, like the black knight from monty python, or the shirt from midway that has a whole in it.

 

I'd say this really cool lamp shade hat that flickers every now and then... now where did I get that.. *wink lol. Iwas gonna say the emoticons too... ones that can set you apart from other people. Say you accomplished something others haven't. My other favorites include the pillow in japan home you could carry around, glowing eyes from that witch cauldron, and skelton hand from brimstone poker.

 

Yes the skeleton hand is cool, but I have never seen it. I also like the cyborg legs that are in the costume store. They have a completely different look than re-skinned pants. I wonder if thats what I find in Whiperwyre mission 3.

As for other unique items I really like the Vlad the Impaler poster from loot. The way it pops out into the foreground is pretty cool. I also like the gargoyles because they were the first fairly large furniture figures. There are quite a few more out now but large "statue" sized figures are really great.

 

hmmmm..... I think that was something I still had a problem with. When I first entered the space, there was ALOT of visual information to absorb. Lots of things to look at. Everything was bright and seemed important.

And I wandered around confused and lost a bit before I started to absorb the layout. But we adapt.

BTW- I'm amazed I can have all 3 conspiracy cabinets out AND another active object. That was some pretty smart coding. usually that 50+2 limit chokes us.
