Lucky for you, you're one of the top 10 players, so you'll finally get yourself revenge from GZ's Setsubun event in Japan, losing that tiger bike. I like the bike in this event. Reminds me of Kamen Rider, though the bike is insect-like and not robotic.

As for me, I'm close to the Special Forces outfit (the pink version) so I hope I'll get that one. The whole ranking thing is silly IMHO, but at least I'm having fun and I've gotten all the April Fool's rewards this time around. I'm also glad they reconstructed the sudden "jams" in prompts from the boss stages and improved those from Irem's RPG event in 2010, where people complained about the lag and freezing issues during a certain prompt - i.e. riding the Spelunker's mine cart.

And since GZ was nice to reinvent the Irem Secret HQ as their own GZ Secret HQ, I bet it wouldn't be long for them to make their space into a public one, along with a mini-game similar to this and Mononoke like the Irem castle space after the AFD 2010 event.

I have a question, and I'm hoping Faga or anyoneelse with a Japanese ps3 can answer.

I know sometimes the x and o buttons are reversed because of hardware of Japanese ps3s are slightly different than in NA or EUrope.

In the Kikai event when I try to use a door or a healing spot on the ground, I press x but instead of using the heal spot or door I end up jumping up and down instead. This has been mentioned before by others.

Is it because we are using non Japanese ps3s? Or is this just how it is even for Japanese players?

It's because of non Japanese PS3s and how Japanese have used these systems before from other PS systems, so it's a yes on both.

Aw, no! Damn these ranking boards. They don't refresh! I still have no clue on how they rank to begin with using each space as part of point gatherings honestly, even after scoring 9,999,999 last night and still playing with the total point rank as 1. My rank states I'm at 105 with a star rank of 27, yet I'm around 35-37 as of now. :p

I'm really starting to hate these ranking boards of GZ's and putting rewards for them honestly.

I can confirm that. Japanese/Asian PS3s have x as cancel, and o as ok/select. The game uses x as jump, but since American systems use x as ok/select also, it's purpose overlaps.

I've answered this in-depth ages ago somewhere or other— let me try to do a quick recap here (and hope I remember the details correctly still)…

For Japan, the normal controller configurations call for: Ⓞ = ok, Ⓧ = cancel — very simply, these symbol+meaning association "standards" are used for various applications in Japan, including non-PS3 and non-gaming uses (for example, on arcade machines, vending units, terminals, forms, etc.).

However, when the PlayStation hardware was later released to non-Japanese regions, it adopted a revised configuration of: Ⓧ = ok, Ⓞ = cancel — supposedly these associations made more sense to Westerners & Europeans. Go figure.

Anyway, the problem within certain Japanese Home events where Ⓧ doesn't function as expected is due to a minor programming error in the actual event space. With Kikai, Granzella is only utilizing the Japanese controller library file, rather than the additional "Western" (or a combined) library file that would make the space 100% compatible with all worldwide PS3s (i.e., non-Japanese units).

While most Japanese Home spaces are programmed utilizing the combined controller library files, Granzella (and Irem before them) have never done so, thus we have to "glitch" Ⓧ into activating certain functions due to now-conflicting button assignments.

I assume when Kikai is ported over for NA & EU, Granzella will likely use only the "Western" controller library file, potentially creating a similar issue for Japanese PS3 owners.

        Hope that made some sense…
        .

The ranking has a counter stop of 9999999 and seems to display the ranking according to the order people reached that number with how many rounds it took for them to reach it(which means I was the 5th person to do so after going 29 rounds). GZ hasn't made any announcement on this problem, and no one actually knows what's going to happen with the ranking rewards.

People are saying it'll be one of these:
          1. Go with the order as displayed
          2. All 9999999 will be treated the same rank
          3. There is a internal ranking that actually does the correct rank
          4. Something else that people haven't come up with

I also emailed about this to GZ on Saturday, but haven't received any response from them. And GZ hasn't been very good with communication lately. They haven't answer to tweets that often and haven't publish a new issue for the GZ Mag which they initially stated was suppose to come yesterday (5/22) in Japan.

So we're pretty much left in the cold and probably just need to wait and see how it turns out when the event ends.

Guys.. no offense but I really don't get this event. Are we suppose to do the missions first then quests after?

I'm really kind of lost here as to what we're really suppose to be doing.

So far I have 2 quizzes done and I have been going to the bus stop and that's it. No questing so far.

I just feel like this "guide" is all over the place and have no idea if I'm doing this event correctly.

You need to do quests and missions as being the same routine. Don't worry about quests at the moment, but make sure you talk to everyone. The quest guy in the HQ has a list of 11 quests, and if one is yellow, it means you're halfway done. Red means you've finished it AND you have to talk to the same quest person from before to get the reward. Quest 2 though takes a bit of backtracking. You first talk to a person after rescuing 10 people, then the next area should unlock and you should talk to the guy behind you under a pile of rubble, then you go back to that quest guy for medicine (it seems), then back to the injured guy. Give him the medicine, he'll die but give you a reward.

Usually the 5 quests are easily done after the entire 6 mission stages, but the others you need to go back again, but they're not too hard. Riora has already listed and described the quests thoroughly.

@Faga: I'm hoping for number two. I really hit rank 1 and deserve some credit. lol

Coops, the best thing is to find one of us. It's possible to go in teams into the battles. It really helps. I wouldn't have survived without friends. And playing with friends is alot of fun.

            :)

Does anyone have the answers to the quiz with the final boss? I've looked but I'm not finding them.

So, is the black and pink versions of the outfits the upgrades? And it is confirmed that you cannot get them without purchasing the weapon set first? I'm sorry for being bothersome. And also I just did the first quiz, but when I select the bus station thing, the final option before the ???'s(Which I believe should be the mission the quiz unlocked) just sits there a few moments before bringing up another message and when I hit X it just closes and nothing happens.

The black and pink uniforms are purchases. You can buy those any time. I'm not sure but heard they don't have any extra defense. But if you buy Edo armor, the armor will add attack power and defense in the Kikai event. The actual weapon upgrades are found in the game. But they don't work unless you have a purchased weapon.

To get into the missions, you need to start a group. Even if you are alone, a group of one person will get you in alot faster than without a group. Without a group you can queue for hours over and over and not get in. Just go to your pda, select the social column, select the second option down, then the top option on the next menu. You should be set in a group of one.

              yw!

Btw, my friend tells me the pink and black armor will get you to something like a 25-27 defense rating. Which is over double what the freebie gives. But no weapon bonus. So I still recommend Edo armor over the pink and black suit.

I bought the black suits, just because they are limited purchases for the event. Although I do prefer using the samurai Ganryu armor when going up against the robots.

Thanks to the group thing I got the mission to load perfectly fine with no trouble. Even completed the first quest and got the mask. However with so little time remaining, I doubt I'll put much more effort into playing it.. >< Alas. And some rewards aren't even granted to those who didn't reach very high among the ranking isn't that so? ><

The total time to beat the entire game is like an hour, and the quests you can finish up while playing each levels and talking to the people before and after the mini-games, whenever you're not using the sword. Just do a few run throughs each time you play and you'll earn them. Just don't forget that they're 4 trophy rewards for beating the king before the second fight by choosing the different options. You might want a better bike for 400 yen, and the Kikai quiz answers is already posted on the Riora site. The Oden shop is you just remember what item they've ordered and chose the right item.

After beating the king, there's 3 flower rewards too. Simple go by Edo, Neon, and South Hideaway and find the flowers and click x. And finally, find Keith (Kiss in katakana, the guy in blue uniform) inside the green beamed corridor. Hit x on the door there to gain access and talk to Keith. You should get a doll of himself to keep quiet. ;)
