The problems keep mounting for Sony as a new loophole in the required password reset has opened PSN users to a new and different form of being hacked.

Nyleveia first reported the loophole, stating that hackers would only need the PSN account email address and a date of birth to reset access your PSN via the password reset page. Both of these pieces of information were assumed to be compromised during the initial attack in April.

Confirmed by Eurogamer, the exploit spells yet another potential PR disaster for Sony. Since this information has been made aware, however, Sony has consequently taken down the PSN password reset page.

More information will be provided in the upcoming days.

Glad I got to mine first.

Still, it's extremely crappy of these hackers to just keep kicking.

That's a valid concern Ariane. It may be also one of the reasons that Japan and China aren't letting the systems back up yet. And this news may also delay those even more from coming back online. Looks like we have to wait on Sony again.

George Hotz is the main person I blame for this. He is the hacker that discovered the hole in the PS3 security and published it online to all the hackers. That began all of these problems. if not for him, our systems the ps3 hacking would have stopped. And while the server itself wasn't invulnerable, it wouldn't have been a target of Anonymous if not for Hotz.
