  1. Modern life is a form fill, drop down menu, auto populate, choose a link, click to submit kind of experience. As long as your problem, question or request falls within a very specific, pre programmed route you are ok. If not you’re screwed!

I love the on line world and all the benefits it has to offer, This site for example is such a great resource and community but ultimately it can only follow specific paths of it’s pre-determined programming. Any deviation requires talking to a human being and well, good luck with that. The best example of this is on line banking. I once paid a bill twice by mistake and tried to fix my mistake, you can guess how that turned out.

The programmable form has replaced real time interaction and we are ok with it for the sake of convenience and doing things in a world well beyond 9 to 5. Complaints and customer service has turned into an on line form that god knows what ever happens to that. Companies can now do a ton more with two tons less but that somehow doesn’t translate to cheaper prices.

We humans are mistake making machines and we are now moving at faster and faster speeds, so our mistakes now happen at the speed of light as well. I once bought a Seals and Crofts song from iTunes. Not to diss the early 70’s power soft rock duo but I didn’t want the tune but somehow screwed up and now I am the proud owner of “Get Closer.” Every time it comes around in shuffle mode I cringe as it reminds me of the “click here” world we live in.

Great blog, as usual. I hope you post a lot more because the stuff you write always makes me see things in a way that I haven't. It just makes sense!!!! LOL!

Ok, i used the "drop down" menu and rated this 5 stars. There was not another drop down asking me why I did? But I rated it 5 stars because it is very well said and very true. I am now "leaving a comment" in the "leave comment" field!!!! ;)

I too have made the iTunes mistake. Sometimes when this happens, it's not a bad mistake. But anyway, the online world is very advanced. I am still old-fashioned in that I pay my bills by check and not online. I am always afraid that something will go wrong so I like to mail my checks. I also don't like online complaint forms, because honestly who is going to read it? I'd rather talk to someone live and get something resolved. I have had luck with some online complaints, but I am always shocked someone is listening. Lastly, to change the subject. I hate calling companies and having to push the button 100's of times, just to ultimately get to a live person.

Technology has changed drastically since I was a kid. What was it like before cell phones? I actually had to wait until I got home to get my e-mail? Now i get it in an instant! And forget making phone calls, texting is the way to talk. I guess you gotta keep up with the times for sure. Back to online forms, now to apply for a job, there is no paper to fill out - you just go online and fill out an application. No more driving around and going from place to place. It makes it easier for sure, but who knows if someone actually gets the application?

Anyway, good blog. I think I am going to go on iTunes now and check out that Seals and Crofts song, because maybe it's not so bad!!!! LOL.
